An unusual but tasty Imperial IPA. It looks like a typical NEIPA with the hazy straw yellow body and the foamy white head. The head is long lasting and looks more frothy than foamy as it settles down. Lots of lacing on the glass. This beer is contract brewed by Mason Ale Works in California. The brewery website indicates that Kreepville is going to be a series of different flavored brews, and that is a good thing!!! The aroma and taste were pretty elusive to me. I was expecting the usual grapefruit/citrus/tropical fruit of a NEIPA. This beer had a dry, biscuity malt backbone rather than a juicy fruity one. I looked up the HBC 586 hop and found this: "The aroma of HBC 586 has been described as "a large medley of fruit flavors... Mango, guava, lychee, citrus, with slight sulfur and herbal notes". That would explain some of the variety I noticed although Citra and Riwaka hops were used as well. The brewery described the beer as "extremely dangerously crushable & fluffy delightful with tropical forest fruit flavors". The mouthfeel was rich and moderately bitter with a dry overall finish. I didn't feel that the mouthfeel was "crushable and fluffy". There was a touch of alcohol harshness, just to let you know this was an Imperial brew. I found this beer tasty, different, and more complex than a standard NEIPA based beer. Quite enjoyable!!!!
