I received two cans of this IPA from @r0rschach. Released on 4/27/2019. Poured into a Spiegelau IPA glass. It pours a cloudy, honey-amber color with more than a finger of creamy, long-lasting milk-white head and attractive lacing. The smell is quite sweet: oats, cream, tangerine, honeydew melon, and just a whiff of hops. It smells like a milkshake IPA. The taste is very fruity and tropical with lots of pineapple, tangerine, melon, and sweet cream. I can't tell whether it's lactose or oats. It's also very dank. The intriguing combination of Columbus Cryo, Mosaic, Simcoe, Chinook, and Eureka hops adds lots of flavor but with little bitterness. This ale has a plush, creamy mouth feel with moderate carbonation, and it's 7.4% ABV gives it lots of character. Overall, Billy Bong Thornton is well-conceived and executed. I don't think I've ever had a beer with this hop bill before but it works nicely. I'm glad to have had the chance to drink it.
