12oz can, adhesive label. Bottom date stamp is '07/22/25', about fourteen weeks in the can.
Slightly cloudy, deep gold colored body. One finger of white head, which settles back to islands and a ring. Leaves behind webs and bands of lacing.
Aroma of orange, pineapple, slight pine, and toasted malts.
Taste is bitter throughout but also has expressions of sweetness. Flavors of orange, grapefruit, citrus pith/rind, melon, pineapple, and pine resin. Ends with the resin which extends into the aftertaste, along with toasted caramel malts.
Medium mouthfeel. Slightly sticky. Clean finish. Very good carbonation.
Lacks body clarity for a West Coast IPA but has a good bitter edge to balance against the sweetness.

Canned on 4/12/2023. Poured into a Spiegelau IPA glass. It pours a hazy, bright yellow-orange color with a half finger, creamy, milk-white cap and soapy film of lacing. The smell is big, sticky, tangerine/orange, sweet malt, and pine needles. The taste offers the balance of sweet, caramel malt, orange and lemon peel, grapefruit rind, and strong pine sap. Due to the age of the can I'm not noticing the Huell Melon hops but the the Citra has held up well and the Centennial influence is strong. I like this substyle of WCIPA - malty and bitter - and I suspect it would be more complex when fresh with greater orange/tangerine and ripe melon notes. It has a nice, creamy mouth feel and it drinks easily at 6.8% ABV. Overall, while I try to avoid 5 month old IPAs, First Curve has held up well. I like the chance to drink it fresher.

New beer from a new brewery courtesy of @whyteboar in bif16
Poured into a Nordic Pilsner glass, clear copper liquid, its a gusher! Two finger taupe foam cap, good retention, sticky lacings
Aroma is citrus orange, pine, Carmel malts
Taste is piney
Big hop bite, no, big hop chomp! Bitterness upfront that subtles down and behaves itself
Good beer

Can from Rishi’s in Grand Rapids. Solid west coast IPA, bitter but not overly packed.

Beer is a good darker gold color. Smell is solid. Flavor is good- hop profile is subtle and the brew has some slight bite. Texture is smooth and the feel is great.
Overall, this is a very good brew. Would be a nice type of beer to have on a warm summer day.

thanks to Ken for the can!
L: slightly hazed copper colored IPA is capped by a frothy off-white head that leaves chunky lacing down the glass
S: citrus & pine, some bready malt
T: pungent pine, grapefruit zest, grass, mildly toasted grain
F: medium body, very resinous, bitter and dry finish
O: pretty good version of a west coast IPA
