Brewers notes: An American IPA with rye malt, and Amarillo and Cascade hops. Notes of spicy, peppery rye mingle with zesty citrus and floral hops to create an exceptional fall seasonal.
Beer from @whyteboar in bif18,
Chilled 12 oz can poured into a pretentious beer glass, four finger yellowish foam , great retention reigns over a translucent copper colored liquid
Aroma is peppery spice
Taste is rye, pepper, spicy
Smooth with a hop bite on the finish
Good beer

RY-Fi – from Ludington Bay Brewing. Six-pack of 12 fl oz cans purchased from Horrocks Market, Kentwood, MI, 20/08/24, $ 13.31 (including tax and deposit), $ 0.185 /fl oz. Reviewed 30/08/24 (Review 3345). Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Printed on the bottom of can “08/14/24”. On room temperature at the store. Stored at 34 degrees F at home. Served at 41.9 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature was 51.0 degrees F.
Appearance – 4.
First pour – Medium Amber (SRM 12), hazy.
Body – Medium Amber (SRM 12), opaque. Under direct light, same. When rear-lite, medium amber and translucent.
Head – Average (Maximum 3.8 cm, aggressive center pour), citron, high density, average retention, diminishing to an irregular 0.7 – 0.9 cm crown and partial, rocky cap.
Lacing – Fair. Short band of tiny bubbles with a couple of mesas.
Aroma – 3 – Weak hops. No malt, no alcohol (6.7% ABV, according to the label). Faint spiciness.
Flavor – 3.5 Earthy rye flavor but lacking expected rye spiciness, sort of a flat pumpernickel. No hops or alcohol. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. No gastric warming.
Palate – 4 – Medium; creamy; soft carbonation.
Final Impression and summation: 4 The whole is greater than the sum of the parts – I had trouble not consuming the entire six-pack before I reviewed it. Very tasty!

Poured a lovely reddish amber with a beige head so aggressive it leapt from the can before I could get it into the glass.
The aroma was lost on my defective nose, so no help there.
The taste is solid rye IPA- nice bite and rye crackers, it’s not Red’s Rye but if you like that you should try this as Founders doesn’t can theirs any more.
The feel was so spot on I had the glass empty and wanted more.
Good rye beer, well done Ludington!

12oz can. Poured out a clear, golden amber color with a small, khaki-colored head of foam. It left sudsy trails of lace on the glass. It smelled of spicy rye, citrus, toasted caramel and some pine. Sweet caramel, toffee, spicy rye, piney bitterness and a citrus kick.

American IPA with 10% rye malt. Dry hopped with Cascade and Amarillo hops for a floral & citrus experience. Pleasant taste, picking up the sharpness of the rye, while less hoppy than a traditional IPA. Poured from tap at Cabbage Shed in Alberta, Michigan.
