From a 16oz can, undated, purchased at the brewery 06/29/19. Served in an imperial pint pub glass.
Pours a clear and glowing, cheerful amber-gold with three-plus fingers of pouffy snowy-white foam. Retention is excellent, finally settling down into a thick and creamy, dimpled cap with scattered wads of lacing.
Moderately intense nose of sweet cereal, corn? and noble hops. I doubt that there’s any corn in there, but that’s the sensory impression I’m getting.
Taste is sweet and spicy. Almost too sweet, a sort of tacky, saccharine or artificial sweetener sort of flavor - not horrible, just a little... off. Noble hops, an intense black pepper, spicy finish.
Feel is smooth and slick, creamy, heavy bodied relative to the style but brightly carbonated.
Overall, a serviceable but imperfect beverage. Too much: a little too heavy, too sweet, too spicy - my tongue and throat are left feeling as though there was actually fresh-ground black pepper in there. It sure is a good looking beer, though.
