Pint on draft in a shaker at O’Reilly’s Cure in Scarborough, Maine.
Appearance: Pours a clear dark brown bordering black with some ruby around the edges. Almost no head to speak of. Carbonation seems minimal. Ruby is more noticeable toward the end.
Aroma: Very rich with notes of oak, dark cherries, maybe a little male syrup. Dark bread and bread crust.
Taste: Follows nose. Dark cherries lead and those oaky notes are right there. Pretty classic porter.
Mouthfeel: Sippable. Pretty full body without a lot of booze.
Overall: Excellent classic porter. Great take on a perfect style for winter.
