Poured from 440mL can into my Belvárosi sörfesztivál tulip. Best by 7/1/25.
Appearance: deep, rich orange hue, with a dash of haze, and a thick head of frothy dark-ivory foam with just a hint of orange in there. Quite beautiful.
Smell: malt aroma is a bit sweet without being cloying; there's a nice level of toasty character in there, and the rye comes through as just a dash of fruitiness. Hops are citrusy in character, and round out the picture rather well.
Taste: the malt is very rye-like, if you know what I mean: kinda gamey with a dash of, like, strawberry, as well as a toasty and caramelly character. The hops are lemony, and the overall effect is almost that of a particularly sweet and strong English pale ale. It's quite autumnal, and I'm enjoying it on this cold, sunny autumn day.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a moderate carbonation and creaminess; not bad, but kinda the most disappointing dimension of this beer.
Overall: "toasty autumnal rye IPA" is a description that doesn't always work for me, but in this case I think they have struck a good balance. Not bad at all.
