Look: jet black with a fluffy mocca colored head

Aroma: roasted malts, milk chocolate, alcohol

Flavor: It's roasted malts, it's sweet, maybe some milk chocolate and coffee too, and a mild but noticeable alcohol

flavor that fits with the overall flavor

Body/Overall: medium body.

Very dark pour, light does not shine through at all. Smells or licorice, molasses. Flavor is rich, malty, sweet, and finishes with alcohol bite. Mouth is full and rich. I am not a porter fan, but this one is worth doing again.

Imperial or not, the name is in poor taste (saying it's a dark beer is an 'edgy' pun, woop-dee-do).

Anyway.

Purchased at Whole Foods, comes in a big ol' ceramic bottle with a stopper on a wire contraption, like some legacy European brews. I don't know the technical term.

Pours an ebony color, with a brown head that slowly fades into the drink.
Smells of rich malt, not smoky, very pleasant.
Feels thick, like a bourbon aged beer, clean aftertaste, no harsh edges.
A slight sweetness, the notes are massive without being overwhelming, it would be very easy to drink this too quickly.
