Pegasus city brewing Old rip rye (4.25, 3.75, 4, 3.75, 4)
Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a deep crimson red color with a one finger head of tan colored foam. The head has a fantastic level of retention, lasting for quite some time before fading and leaving tons of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is strongest of a brown bread smell mixed with a little bit of rye and a rather decent showing of caramel and molasses. Along with these smells comes a little bit of herb and a touch of plum, as well as some chocolate smells.
Taste - The taste of the brew starts very strong of a sweet caramel and molasses flavor mixed with some toasted brown bread. Along with these flavors comes a good deal of dark fruit with flavors of cherry and plum. While the rye is light upfront, it grows stronger in nature as the taste advances forward. At the same time some herbal hop and a touch of grapefruit hop come to the tongue. As the flavor moves onto the end, the caramel and molasses fade a bit all while the dark fruit get stronger. With some light earthy hop and a touch of warming booze, one is left with a sweet and lightly warming rye taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is medium to slightly thicker and chewier with a carbonation level that is rather high. For the mix of sweet, brown bread, and light rye the feel is good and makes for a nice slow and easy sipper.
Overall – While not a rye powerhouse the beers flavors are smooth and work rather well together. Overall a rather pleasant and flavorful sipper.

This may not be the best Rye beer I've had. It is a bit sweet and the alcohol is a bit too noticeable, but overall I thought it was pretty good.
Look: Black with a two inch thick mocca colored head
Aroma: Caramel, syrup and Rye
Taste: Caramel, syrup and Rye, the alcohol is quite noticeable. Maybe too much alcohol taste and a bit too sweet but otherwise I thought it was quite good. I like the lingering rye bread flavor.
Body/Overall: light to medium body
