Pours a pure black color with a dense, dark tan head. A beautiful imperial stout. The nose is strong roasty coffee notes up front, then milk chocolate and vanilla follow, and a nice char note as well.
The coffee cedes center stage to the milk chocolate and the vanilla on the taste, and I can’t decide which is my favorite, so I won’t decide - they’re both magnificent. But the coffee is also present at the back of the palate, and is roastier on the taste than it was on the nose. Man, is this delicious.
The mouthfeel is full and creamy, providing a very satisfying finish to a world-class beer.

Very good head production, albeit slow building. Dark tan foam has excellent retention; body is ebony.
Smells like pure cocoa! Vanilla and coffee, along with brown sugar and molasses from the malt, struggle to be notice, peaking out from behind a wall of chocolate.
Flavor immediately follows. It's like chewing on a chocolate bar. Coffee and vanilla provide accents, but you'd never identify them as featured ingredients - certainly not over the chocolate.
Smooth, thick, chewy, and exceptionally easy drinking for such a high ABV.
In a word: delectable. This is easily as good as some of the best dessert stouts Southern Tier has cranked out, and not many breweries are playing the game at this level.
