Had on tap. Brownish black pour with a finger of khaki head. Classic oatmeal stout in smell and taste with big roasted malts, oatmeal, dark chocolate, and a hint of coffee. Body does well in how creamy yet dry it is, medium all around feel with artful amounts of roasted texture. Enjoyed this throwback quite a bit

An aggressive pour yields a nice, substantial, rocky, khaki colored head that actually persisted a while over the black coffee colored liquid.
The smell is light chocolate, none of the burnt acrid notes stouts can have, a bit of coffee and nice, controlled toasty character. The taste is excellent - smooth and integrated, nothing IS Out of place. A little chocolate, touch of coffee, and a restrained, yet full, roast malt flavor.
The texture IS exceptional with that smoothness oats bring to the party, medium bodied and completely enjoyable to drink.
This is a winner and a well-crafted beer that I will gladly purchase again.

Black in color, no head.
Mainly a roasted malt aroma. Some oatmeal.
The taste was more than I got from the aroma. Chocolate, espresso coffee, and oatmeal.
Medium-bodied, easy drinking beer.

Pint on draft in a shaker pint at Arcadia in Portland.
Appearance: A solid black with a finger-width head. Classic stout.
Aroma: Coffee, chocolate, oatmeal, dark grains, malts.
Taste: Delicious, classic oatmeal stout. Robust, creamy chocolate character along with an oaty, smooth, easy body.
Mouthfeel: Creamy, smooth, easy, inviting.
Overall: Excellent oatmeal stout. I have a weird suspicion this is more or less the same as Belfast Bay's McGovern oatmeal stout. For whatever reason, though, I like this more. Might just be a touch fresher.
