We designed this double IPA to embody all the things we love about the style: full, sweet maltiness accented by the perfect amount of fruit, pine and citrus. Danny’s favorite hops (Centennial and Simcoe) give bitterness and flavor, with healthy doses of Amarillo, El Dorado and Citra for aroma.

12 oz. can poured into a tulip.

Appearance. A fairly clear cola color with a short cream head that dissipates quickly.

Aroma: Booze, hops, oil. Resin.

Taste: BOOZE. Also herbal hops and lemon.

Mouthfeel: A slow sipper. Boozy and hoppy.

Overall: A battle axe to the brain. This is a BIG IPA that kind of loses some flavor because of the powerbomb of booze it drops on the imbiber. Decent stuff, but not an every day beer. (ABV is 9ish.)

For a DIPA it had more or a malty than hoppy feel. Well balanced and didn't feel as strong as it is (9.1 ABV). Did not feel over hopped at all as some DIPA's are. Dark Amber color with smooth mouth feel. Not my typical expectation for a DIPA but still very good.

Found this in Kittery Maine and tried it on a whim as I hadn't heard of this brewery. I had to add the beer and only one other beer from them had previously been added so I'm guessing they are fairly local to mid-coast. FYI - no ABV listed on the can and couldn't find it on the website either. Odd.

Pours a deep and rich, hazy orange-amber color with a half-finger silky head that laces well.

The aroma has a nice blend of pine/citrus along with some sweet malt. Fairly pungent.

The taste has a malt punch up front that quickly transitions into a highly bitter middle, then finishing with the pine and citrus hops along with a bitter buzz on the sides of the tongue. The bitterness overpowers any subtlety that the malt may impart, but it works for me. It should be noted that the malt is not over-done at all. Again, nice balance.

Feel is sticky on the lips, medium bodied and full of bitterness.

I have to say this one pleasantly surprised me. With my New England IPA craze in overdrive these days this was a nice respite, reminding me of what IPAs used to be like and why I liked (some of) them. Everything comes together very nicely - not really anything off-putting to me, though if you are not a fan of bitterness then you should probably skip this one.

I will probably try their other beers now if I spot them.
