Pours a gorgeous deep coppery color, crystal clear, with about an inch of beige foam on top. The head falls to a ring and huge island, some cling to the glass. Pretty looking pour.
The aroma is nutty malts, brown bread, some toffee/caramel notes and a normal whiff of earthy hops.
Sweet malts open the taste. Very pleasant nutty component - hazelnut, maybe? Nice wash of the toffee/caramel and a tad bit of milk chocolate. To me the hops are just right - a nice aromatic note on the finish that is oh so mildly spicy. There's a bit of a mineral tang that is not unwelcome. Just enough bitter to keep the sweetness in check.
Feel is medium bodied. Taste is clean and leaves the taste buds wanting more.
Overall this is a very good brown ale. It's clearly in their wheelhouse - a traditional style. Good example of the style.

Poured from the can into a nonic(k) pint glass.
Deep copper red and brown body, mostly clear, strangely bit of haze towards all places the bottom of the head it seems. Thick rich and creamy khaki colored head, three fingers tall with a big sheet of lace and ring like clumps.
Nutty malt aroma and delicious smelling. Rich sense of milk chocolate with an almost nougat like filbert nut flavor. Light crusty brown bread, touches of hard mineral like water on the nose too. Very nice.
Real nice palate. Almost crisp like in body, with a bit of rocky mineral flavor. Nice mouthfeel simple backbone with a light caramel and more of a darker toastier angle. Dark bread and crusty brown flavors. Hints toffee and more of milk and crispy char like carbon accentuated by this rocky mineral finish. Minimal bitterness but enough to contrast and keep the sweetness from going overboard. Toasty, varied malt palate, and love the light water base and flavor of this beer.
A real nice brown.

Can label says "Davistown Brown Ale" rather than "Davidson". My second product from this brewery thanks to a can acquired in a trade and, once again, I'm impressed with the result. I haven't sampled many Brown Ales recently but this one comes across as an excellent example of a somewhat unheralded style. My only negative is that I acquired only one can and live well outside of their probable distribution area.
