12oz can. Bottom stamp is 'CANNED ON: 09/25/24'.
Dark brown colored body, with a mahogany back lit edge. Big three finger tan head upon pouring but this immediately collapses, resulting in islands and a thin ring. Leaves behind scattered small spots of lacing.
Aroma of roasted malts and chocolate, with a char approaching black licorice.
Taste is dark roasted malts, with sweetness. Also has chocolate, sugar plum, and anise. Aftertaste has a sweet vanilla flavor with the dark roast.
More than medium mouthfeel. Has a mineral note that wipes the mouth. Bitterness is very low. Good carbonation.
Good yeast contributions along with the base dark malt. Certainly sweet but balanced by the earthier aspects.

Picked up a single on 9-5-24 from the Energy Mart cooler on Long Shoals/I-26 as part of a mixed six pack for $12.99. Canned on 2-14-24; consumed 11-8-24. Cold stored since purchase.
Beer poured dark brown with a nice tan head with the original pour.
Nose has notes of roasted malts and a touch of chocolate.
Taste follows the nose as the medium roasted malt base that uses a well-blended percentage of chocolate malts. Getting a touch of dark fruits from the yeast strain. Finishes well balanced with sufficient hopping and roasted malts.
Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied and pretty smooth.
Overall, the flavor profile is fairly unique, glad Munkle gives this recipe a go periodically!

No can date
Med large thick creamy brown 1.5 finger head with good retention and soapy lacing, very dark brown color
Nose brings nice roast, coffee, plenty of baking spices, chocolate cocoa, little fudge, cookie dough, vanilla spice and some anise
Taste brings more cocoa, fluffy nougat, little fudge, vanilla icing, light anise licorice and other earthy root based sassafras like spices, roasted malts, fair baking spices, light bitterness, sweet candy like chocolate, mild sweet sticky finish
Mouth is med to fuller bod, a bit thick, med carb
Overall not bad, spice got a bit too high and strange, but nice low bitterness and sweet chocolate

12 oz can - $2.09.
Pours with an essentially black body that is topped by a thin beige head.
This has a distinct flavor profile with some spiciness that increases the apparent sweetness to a level that, for me, seems a touch too high.
Smooth, medium-full body and light carbonation.
