1st review of this beer on BA. My recollection is such that this won 1st place or the people's choice award at the Strange Brew festival held on May 18, 2019. I had it relatively early in the day and actually predicted it was the kind of beer that wins at these things.
Pours a standard brown color with almost no head, smallish 1/5" off white/light beige. Aroma was a sweeter chocolate malt feel, the adjunct sugaryness really took over any semblance of roasted malt for this one.
Taste was a pretty easy going affair. The sweetness counter balanced and even overtook the roasted malt, bitterness, hops etc. . .; Mouthfeel continued to display the chocolate, sugar and vanilla from the ice cream I think they just dumped post fermentation into the beer. In a way, its a porter for people who don't like porters. It was middle of the road for me, I appreciated it for what it is, but it isn't something you wanna put 40oz of it down in one sitting. Hid a lot of the beercentric qualities in exchange for some ice cream.
