I had this a little while after the Coco Taco Porter from the same brewery at the Strange Brew Festival held on May 18, 2019. Pours a watermelon like color with some haziness throughout, miniscule head, off white 1/6". Aroma was actually pretty decent for a kettle sour, had a little bit of melon, lime, passion fruit kind of fruit salad meets vanilla/sherbert ice cream vibe. Definitely surpassed expectations on that tip.
Taste produced a moderate sour that lacked much of any bitterness or acidity. I'm digging it. Raspberry notes provide an ever so slight drying effect that keeps the beer from being too sweet or flabby downpour. Even though their porter won the contest, I thought this beer was slightly better. They both went down the slightly gimmicky fun path, but I just thought this stayed truer to style. I don't think I ever would have tried a Shoe Tree sour if it was a to go or full pour situation, but I'm glad I was able to check a festival pour out from them, ended up being totally worth it. Would bang again.
