Went through Virginia City here in Nevada for the first time today and ended up at the Red Dog Saloon while in town. This was the only beer from the Silver State that was in tap and it was fine for a hot and dry summer day such as this, as I liked it better than the average patron there.
Golden, bright, and like its namesake drink, it reminded me a bit of a margarita since it had lots of citrus and lime in the nose. The taste closely followed suit, minus the salt, as the body was light and the carbonation was brisk throughout my session. No worm was needed and salt wasn’t something they would have helped me finish it off.
Not a lot of alcohol in this as the sour taste stood out more than anything else. A bit tangy, astringent, and plenty fruity, this was a fun beer that I’d have again if I ever passed through this way again. Hard to detect anything else in particular but once was fine to go along with my bar food. All I need is for Shoe Tree to have more information up on their website!
