Well I'm back from the potluck (3 plates, beat that) and its time to renew the series, "adding the beer to this Next Glass owned database and being the first to also write a review." So a brown ale. With the rise of the beer nerd, its a relatively neglected style outside of some of your first homebrew kits and some garage dad style from the retired dude who opened a microbrewery at some point the last 30 years.
This one poured, well brown, but with a respectable heft and earthiness to it, beautiful tight bubbled beige head on top 3/5" deep, excellent retention. Aroma was of a moderate humidity forest ground. Light hop and carbonation appropriate to make it drink easy. Speaking of easy, besides Kim being in my office, its easy to see why this is a brewer's favorite. The light roasted malt is evocative of the weakest eye opener coffee, such a working man's type of beverage, you don't really have this to get wasted as they say. Binge responsibly. Same with the awards, makes sense.
