473ml can - BTB, shouldn't all IPAS be 'generously hopped'? And what's with the dual king of spades imagery on the label?
This beer pours a mostly clear, medium copper amber colour, with three fingers of puffy, loosely foamy, and somewhat fizzy off-white head, which leaves a bit of sudsy hovering cloud form lace around the glass as it rather slowly sinks away.
It smells of mildly dank pine resin, some orange, white grapefruit, and lemon citrus rind, gritty and grainy caramel malt, a subtle hard water flintiness, and more leafy, weedy, and floral green hop bitters. The taste is grainy and crackery caramel malt, muted domestic citrus peel, a bit of earthy yeastiness, wet stones, and some plain herbal, grassy, and gently perfumed floral verdant hoppiness.
The carbonation is fairly timid in its lazy-seeming frothiness, the body a decent middleweight, and more or less smooth, as the hops here are 'generous' in that respect. It finishes off-dry, the base malt parrying the lingering hops with little effort.
Overall - this is a pleasantly hopped-up first IPA impression from this nascent Cowtown brewing concern. More flavourful than bitter, which is something that I am still getting used to, strangely enough. At any rate, good job, people!

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
