Pours a dark brown with a burgundy tint. Three fingers of dense, off white foam sit on top. Aroma is toast, caramel, molasses, fig, raisins, and an earthy note to close it out. It's never sweet, but is bold and fairly expressive. Flavor profile is back to toasty and caramely malts out front. Bready malts sit just behind. Mild molasses pairs up with fig and raisins. Semi-bitter, clinging to an earthy malt note at the close. Mouth feel is medium-thick in thickness with a soft grit to the texture. Overall, earthy, semi-sticky barleywine without the accompanying boozy note. Old school.
