16 fl oz pull-tab can:
Norwegian inspired smoked lagerbier made with traditional Stjørdal malt kilned over alder wood.
Brewed in collaboration with Brieux Carré Brewing Co.
5.8% ABV
AROMA: Smoke. Wood sugars. Pale malt.
TASTE: Rich smokey taste, rife with woodsy intricacy but tempered with enough malt sweetness and woodsy sugars it never comes off harsh or acrid...this isn't your ashtray-redolent smoked lager. Damp alder, wet wood fiber, clean smoke. Not spicey or aggressively bitter like some other smoked beers (e.g. mesquite smoked beers), but not as overtly smokey as something like Schlenklera; this doesn't have that German rauchbier bacon/smoked meat flavour to it.
Stupidly drinkable. Boasts impressive depth of flavour and balance for a smoked lager. I think it's up there with Parleaux's best, for my money.
B+ / VERY GOOD
