Rounding out the beers I took home from Shaidzon a few weeks ago, we have their take on a session IPA. My friend got this at the brewery and it was quite good, so it was a no brainer to bring a can of this one home. Let’s get into it
Pours a cloudy orange gold with 3 fingers of soapy white head that slowly fades to a cap and leaves minimal lacing
The nose here suggests a nice balance, a bit fruity, a bit hoppy, and a nice malt backbone to support it. I’m picking up on aromas of orange zest, peppery hops, crackery malt, honey, light grapefruit, and lemon zest
Likewise in taste it is quite balanced and tasty. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting earthy hops, lemon juice, bready malt, white pepper, grapefruit, and light toasted grain. The swallow brings notes of lemon zest, crackery malt, white pepper, earthy hops, honey, and orange zest
A light medium body pairs with moderate carbonation, resulting in a crisp and refreshing beer. Finishes mostly dry with a satisfying bitterness that makes it highly drinkable
Everything from Shaidzon has been pretty damn good so far. Definitely one of the breweries in the state that I plan on returning to
