Pours clear pale yellow with a big, fluffy head. The head slowly diminishes, leaving a coating of fine lace on a Growlerworks pint.
Lemon aromas are mild with lots of grain, such as Ritz Crackers and some soapy astringency.
The flavor follows the nose, with the grain and astringency being more prominent. Bitterness is fairly high for a Kolsch, yet sweetness provides a check. The finish is quick and crisp, with lots of mineral flavors.
This Kolsch has a medium body with a hard, smooth texture. Carbonation is fizzy, though less than seltzer. Alcohol is absent, even for a 5% beer that is fairly dry.
This is a good lawnmower beer. While nothing is exciting, it is far from boring. I finished the growler, out on a covered deck, as the warm, overcast Sunday faded from early to late afternoon.
