Is this a Stout? Maybe. It is a creamy dark ale, featuring loads of crystal and chocolate malt for color and sweetness. Strawberry puree and Ecuadorian cocoa nibs are added prior to packaging for a unique, decadent flavor.

Chocoberry is clear and dark auburn with ruby highlights (SRM 26-29). The dark, khaki head forms a tight foam about one-half inch tall. The head falls quickly to a thick ring after leaving a webbing of lace on a GrowlerWerks insulated pint.
Roasted malt greets the nose, followed by chocolate, which is fairly mild. The background has faint, sweet berries that might be strawberry.
The flavor generally follows the nose; however, the berries are more likely cherries. This is a fairly simple profile and tasty without any real flaws. The finish is short and mild. Warmth amplifies the chocolate.
A full body and smooth texture of velvet. Alcohol is present and about as expected from the label. Residual sugar forms a sticky film on the lips, while soft carbonation cleanses the palate.
I added this as an American Stout. However, Porter seems more accurate. With the definition of these style being ambiguous to start with, either is appropriate because the brewer doesn't specify. This is an unassuming beer and enjoyable even if far from the expected dessert beer suggested by its name.
