On tap at Battle Street Brewing in Dansville, NY.
This one pours a fairly dark brown color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
This smells quite hoppy – it’s an altbier, so they are generally a bit hoppier, but the bitterness is quite spicy and quite aromatic. There’s some caramel on the nose too.
This is extremely bitter for the style – I don’t hate it, but it’s almost too much. There’s not enough malt richness to overcome that enhanced bitterness. There’s some light smoke and caramel, but very little sweetness overall.
This is lighter bodied with quite the bite on the finish.
This is one of the better Battle Street beers I’ve had, but that’s not exactly a high bar to clear, unfortunately.
