5oz@brewery:
Near black with a deep brown head that could last longer, ending in a revivable medium thin tan ring.
Nose is heavy on roasted malts with a smoky lean to the char. Backing note of dark chocolate brings a little expectation of some sweetness.
Not sweet, but not completely dry, either. Roast and smoky char carry from the nose well, and counter the underlying sweet notes well. The ending brings a weak coffee flavor and feel - pretty bold up front, but peters out a tad by the end.
A decent straightforward imperial stout that does scratch a little itch in this world full of flavored/adjuncted versions.
