Darvaza is a natural gas crater in Derweze, Turkmenistan,
that collapsed into an underground cavern, and is known locally as the “Gates of Hell.” This beer is our interpretation of an aggressive double IPA. We started with a dry base with hints of malt and bittered to 90 IBU. We then dry hopped with 3 pounds per barrel of Idaho 7 and Citra hops. Darvaza is very aromatic on the nose with citrus and dank scents and finishes dry and bitter.

Checked this out at the 2023 double ipa festival. Always gonna go with a #77 selection baby, National Champs! Anyhoo, this is the first review of this beer on this Untappd owned website. Lulz.
Anyhoo, never heard of the brewery, so double reason to check this out. Dark gold in color. 1/4" white head. The aroma was mostly a bittering hop and Citra. So citrus in terms of flesh and rind in the nose.
Idaho 7 seems to keep the bitter bland rind note going. More actual mouth feel impact than that of taste. They brag on the 90ibu level, and hey, its there, so if that's your jam, more power to you. I didn't think it fit the "dry" finish bill. The alcohol heat is present, there is an above average amount of viscosity. Has that sticky drip. Its that big bruiser tag team of heavy heat and bitterness. Idaho 7 seems like the most proprietary hop that brings nothing beyond a public hop. For every time I see it, I think man, a classic C hop would have been just as good if not better. Anyhoo, this was decent enough, but not enough to stand out in a good way among the other heavy hitters at the festival.
