Sampled at the WBF-08 in Gouda.

A dark brown beer with a thin offwhite head.

Smell is spicy with some orange zest notes. A strong burned aroma was quite upfront and too aggresive. The alcohol was evident and strong.

Taste is burned up to a point of really burned coal, which was strong maltbitter. Some maltiness but this is pushed away by the alcohol, which was warming. A subdued caramel taste could be tasted. The yeast adds a musty taste that also could be caused by the addition of plenty of spices (orange zest, apricot, anise)
Body was too thin for a beer of this ABV and took out most of the balance. A lingering bitter sweet beer.
