Sister bierhall to Die Bierstube and Feierabend

A good variety of the standard German brews. The menu is priced fairly and the food itself is rather good. The one negative is lack of parking in the area, but that's the case with most of Seattle these days. I will go back, but that is because of lack of other bars in the area that serve a multitude of German beers.

The tap list, like the menu, is, unsurprisingly, heavily Teutonic in nature. But that's why I find this place and its sister institutions so welcome, and refreshing, in our community. Beer's a global and historical thing, and venues like this, with their intentionality, remind us of that.

A: Walked in on a snwoy Sunday and there were maybe three people in the place. Lots of old wood. Small place, bar was decent size. Seemed pretty laid back, lots of cool decor

Q: All of the beers were good. I think my Celebrator was pretty old or had some dirty lines because I have never had a Celebrator so mute on flavor. Something just was not right.

S: No complaints on the service. It did take her a while to get the sampler plate together, especially with three peole in there and I was only one eating

S: Good. Good choice in handles ranging from about 10 handles of good beers

F: Average on the food. Nothing amazing or nothing distinctive.

Went here the other night for some German beer and food. Was just in Munich a few months ago and the atmosphere of this place reminded me of something you might see in Munich. The beer selection was outstanding...they had an Oktoberfest on tap in May....I didn't even see anyplace that had Oktoberfest on tap in Germany so that was pretty cool. They had a couple Maibocks on I had a half liter of the Hofbrau maibock which was real good. Had some food there as was good but the center of the pork I had ordered was ice cold...oh well I ate it anyways (and I didn't get trichinosis...bonus!!). I ordered another maibock but the guy waiting on us thought it was more important to sit and flirt with the girls at the table behind us so he forgot about my beer until we got up to leave. Overall there was good and bad about this place. Nice atmosphere and beer selection, service and food kind of sucked. I would probably go back to this place again, though I think I had a better experience at Die Bierstube up in the University district.

I visited Prost! on Tuesday April 18, 2006. This quaint little German place was well decorated with the typical German items. It is quite small with a little bar and a few "picnic tables". I had the Baron's Schwarzbier and Dunkelweizen. I liked the atmosphere and the selection of German beers. However, I was disappointed with the food selection. Also, I found the food items to be pricy for the small amount of food that was served. It was a nice place to stop for a beer but don't go for the food, eat elsewhere.

I walked into Prost! planning on having a glass or two and totally checking out a first-time visit (before heading out for food and another place)...and ended up, closing out several hours later content and with heavy voice - I don't think I've had this much German beer with that much conversation nearly loosing my voice since Oktoberfest Munich last!

What a fun and totally friendly place.

Ok, this beer bar is really tiny and got pretty crowded even for this weekday night. If they weren't speaking English I might have thought this a 'Kneipe.' All beers were served in appropriate glassware and included Spaten (pretty much their entire line), Schneider Aventinus, Paulaner & Franziskaner HW, and Baron Brewing HW and others.

Service was beyond excellent. Friendly conversations and aware of each of patrons' liquid levels (this, even after I started out on the wrong side of things when asked if the weather was 'spitting' any and I just replied with a downer *what's new?*).

Note on atmosphere rating: I could see someone maybe rating this place barely over 1.0 or totally up to 5.0. It's that kind of place and perhaps not for everyone's liking. I guess it doesn't take any IQ level to tell to what side of the scale I rate here.

Nice laid-back place near my new home. Been in a couple of times now.

Beer selection is exclusively German. Well, they do allow the Baron Brewery to have a tap which is a local brewery that only brews traditional German styles. My first visit the Pikantus weizenbock was on. That swapped out for Aventinus on my next visit. Likewise with Schneider weiss being replaced by Franziskaner. Lots of other Spaten (Bock, Marzen, Premium, Pils) seems to always be available.

Staff seems pretty friendly and at least know enough about the beers they carry to answer questions. Some might find the food a little limitted but with a german beer, do you really need more that Bratwurst or pretzels? There are a couple of bigger plates but I haven't got around to that yet.

My only complaint is that it tends to be smokey from poor ventilation but it's not nearly as bad as some places. (UPDATE, Jan.06 Washington passed a no-smoking law. This is now the bar I go to most often as it's close, they often have Aventinus on tap, the regulars and staff are friendly, and while the smokers gripe a bit, they go outside and everybody gets along fine.)
