Another beer I had during the SFBW events in Feb 2020, the last great beer hurrah of 2020. I believe I had this on tap at Rare Barrel. Name seems to be an ode and pun to locale area Point Reyes and hazy ipas.
Anyhoo, golden color, dark, pours hazy, but makes a hearty 3/4" white head and good retention. Good down under hop aromatics, Moteuka and Wakatu have that Southern Hemisphere humidity and dankness to them, with a sizeable Citra sweet orange contribution.
Taste hits that sweet spot between hop juiciness and bitterness. While all Citra can often be too sawft in a hazy ipa, too wet of a feel, this one gets some good bittering hop service out of the danky down under hops. Found those goldilocks spots when it came to bitterness, alcohol coverage, hop saturation, light malt body etc. . .
This was a really good impression of a brewery I had never heard of. Better be, I can only imagine the hazards you gotta duck in Richmond, CA to get in and out when getting a beer.
