Here's another beer from the visit to Richmond back in July. Got a crowler of it. Went nice for a day on the river before softball that night. 6 months later I'm here adding the beer to the database. I'm also going to review it because I'm not a total sociopath.
Pours a light amber/orange color. 1/2" white head. Relatively decent clarity to it. The aroma hit with the familiar pine and grapefruit zest combo, but I think the Sabro really amps it up with its light peppery-ness that enhances the other familiar (Simcoe) hop notes. Amarillo in a supporting role as well giving a slight summer feel to the pine needles.
Taste keeps pounding away in the same zone. Firm bitterness but not excessive, thank you Simcoe. I think the Sabro brings this beyond the normal (almost old school, I guess old school proprietary hops like Simcoe and Amarillo) because it gives that little peppery tingle to the beer that isn't done from just a high carbonation and high bitterness beer. Pine, hay, lemongrass, citric rind, weed.
I enjoyed everything about this beer.
