Collaboration with King State Brewing.

Half N Half Czech Lager is a fun brew we made when King State Brewing came up to visit. They are known for exceptional lagers, so we brewed something in-kind - a Polotmavy. This traditional Czech Lager is one of a kind. Beautifully rich malt flavors supported by a very cleanly fermenting lager yeast. Using floor-malted Bohemian Pilsner malt with a collection of specialty malts, this beer is medium dark and full of warm flavors. During fermentation and with King State’s help, we splunded this Lager to enhance head retention and increase flavor. Warm toasted bread, caramels, light chocolate, and soft toffee flavors come together in an exceptionally drinkable experience! Na zdravi!

A: Pour a clear almost opaque dark reddish amber in color with moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising from the bottom of the glass and moderate medium golden yellow + copper + ruby red colored highlights. The beer has a two finger tall dense foamy tan head that reduces to a handful of small patches of medium thick film surrounded by a large patch of thin film covering the remainder of the surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Slightly stronger than moderate aromas of bready malts with light to moderate aromas of biscuit + caramel malts with a light amount of grainy + caramel sweetness. Light aromas of spicy + herbal hops and light to moderate aromas of lager yeast.

T: Upfront there are slightly stronger than moderate flavors of bready malts with light to moderate aromas of biscuit + caramel malts with a light amount of grainy + caramel sweetness. That is followed by light to moderate flavors of lager yeast. Finally there are light flavors of spicy + herbal hops which impart a light amount of bitterness which fades away leaving a clean finish.

M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Slightly soft with a hint of dryness and a clean finish.

O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol and a pleasantly dry + clean mouthfeel. Very enjoyable albeit slightly complex malt flavors + aromas as well as classic hop profile.
