Beyond the Mountain Brewing Company

Wife and I had driven past here a few times and kept wanting to go. Finally pulled the trigger on a Wednesday night a few months ago and stopped in to split a flight. I ended up getting a really good Red IPA afterwards, not the beer I expected to like best when we began the flight, but it stood out in a lineup of pretty solid beers.

We caught the front end of live music, which apparently takes place on most Wednesday nights and the open bar and super friendly staff made it a very pleasant place to enjoy a couple beers. Friendly is great, but the better part is that everyone we interacted with was excited about the beer and knowledgeable, not only about the beer itself, but the story behind how they decided to make it and what was behind the name. In a town that can, at times, be a little overly pretentious about craft beer, it was fun to just hang at a place where everyone wanted to preach the good word rather than explain why they're smarter than you about beer.

The beer was good, and in some cases really good. If they keep learning, keep treating their customers the way they did us, and being creative, there's a lot of potential for them. Well worth the trip from either Boulder or Longmont, rooting for these guys to make it!
