Cousin to the IPA, a German lager, emboldened by Galaxy, Citra, and Azacca hops for a tropical bouquet.

Poured from their snub nosed bottles, the body is a mostly clear gold with a fluffy white head. Ery good lacing.

Floral nose, light hop bite, grassy notes and balancing malt. Medium body. Finish has a light lingering hoppy bitterness.

Easy drinking hoppy lager.

Ok, unfortunately, I feel that this beer falls a bit short of what I was expecting. It's always nice to see an IPL for the taking. So for that, Wooly Pig's IPL Eins gets a thumbs up from me. This is a far too underappreciated style. Beautiful appearance and spot on flavors. 4.25 on both fronts. Not off to a bad start. Aroma isn't amazing but it is solid for a hoppy lager, a solid 4 out of 5 for sure. Where it falls short is in two fields. One, mouth feel is thin rather than crisp. 3.75 out of 5. Two, I specifically asked the bartender for a four pack of IPL and got a mixed four pack. Two IPL's and two schwarzbier's. So ... On one hand, cool, an extra beer to tick but on the other hand I didn't want a schwarzbier to tick. Not my favorite style. Overall, an enjoyable offering.

One awesome brew after another from The Wooly Pig. A departure from their usual. This is dank. Way more bitter than expected. A good lure for the IPA drinker to come to the WPFB.

6/16/23 Friday afternoon visit to the Wooly Pig establishment.

Leah really likes this aroma. Pineapple, mango. Slight coconut. Only a hint of the lager. Slightly stoney. Good!

Taste... Bright and bitter in the mouth. Lemon rind, pineapple and pine. Only slightly sweet.

Our first IPL. Very interesting they this lager is so close to an IPA.

I am trying this beer off the tapper at the brewery as part of a five sample flight. It poured a clear golden with white head that left some lace. The scent had subtle pine and bitter hop notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with bitter hop presence that gave pine and citrus flare. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a good beer.

Clear pale gold with a persistent, bright white head leaving thick layers of lacing.

Toasted light malt meets a relatively formidable bitterness that's herbal and spicy, accented by lemon rind and a little evergreen.

The light body has a pleasant froth, and finishes quite dry.

Bottle from the brewery.
Pours a clear golden color with a nice thick white head, great retention.
Aroma has notes of citrus. Taste is more on the hoppy side with some sweet tropical notes.

500ml chubby bottle poured into a snifter

A- pours clear golden color with a two-finger foamy white head that has good retention and leaves plenty of lacing behind

S- leafy green hop notes with compliments of pine, orange marmalade and black pepper, toasted pilsner malt, crackers, some floral hoppy notes close it out

T- grapefruit zest, pine, tangerine and grass make up the hop profile up front, undertones of cracker malt, citrus and floral hops on the finish, high drinkability

M- medium body with moderate carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel that continues into a crisp finish

O- a solid IPL all around

Crystal-clear, light straw colored body; very thick, dense and creamy, white head. Heady, delicate floral aroma; lightly sweet. Continuing the theme of lightness and delicateness, the flavor presents a low-key pear-like fruitiness offset with a pronounced yet unobtrusive hop bitterness. Medium body; soft and dry overall.

A most impressive hoppy pilsner, sweetly sublime and gentle, light in body with a moderate dryness.

16.9oz bottle. Poured out a clear, golden yellow color with a good-sized, fluffy head of white foam. Great aroma! So floral, citrusy and slightly herbal. Sweet toasted caramel with a nice bitter bite.

Well thanks again there Corey. Looking forward to this one.

Yup. Looks perfect. Perfectly clear, perfectly fluffy, perfectly refreshing looking. The clean golden yellow body is capped by a relentless white foam that keeps a wonderful surface coverage and plenty of lacing throughout. Perfection.

This thing don't smell too bad either. Very fruity with melons being the focus. Grapefruit, gooseberry, a little weed and a little pine smells just fine.

Taste follows, but not quite as intensely. Still plenty of fruit with a light bready background.

Clean and bright, just how I like them. Pretty well balanced just hugging the bitter edge, with excellent carbonation to lift up that light body.

This was much better than I was expecting. I love, and I mean LOVE IPL's, probably more than their Ale step brothers, and this is a damn good one. As always, I would have enjoyed a bit more bitterness and pine, but there is no way I'd pass up on this guy. Thanks again Corey! Prost.

One of the best IPA style beers you'll ever drink. I've drank hundreds and this one has Max sustainability with regards to how many you can drink at one sitting. I'm a regular customer at the brewery, but no bias on my part. If you are in east Central Ohio stop by this gem.

12 oz pour on tap poured into what looked like a thinner kolsch glass.

A: Very good clarity slightly burnished gold body maybe leaning toward amber. Decent sided soapy white head.

S: Lemon, pineapple, a little mango, and some grass, and cantaloupe.

T: A lot if the nose follows the taste but it's dryer than expected with some light doughy makes pushing up for a nice backbone.

M: Dryer than i would have expected and sharper carbonation but still a nice medium body that leans towards fuller on the finish.

O: This is a nice IPL, it's not going to win any awards but it's easy to drink with a nice malt character to support the hops.
