Foggy but not yet muddy dark brown with a tan head of moderate height that roundly, densely foams up and retains thick while leaving defined layers of lacing.
A uniquely, delicately bitter brown-like, it eschews the old school Pete's abrasiveness, instead exhibiting more herbally autumnal qualities that are sort of woody in a way. The malt pairs well with its lightly toasty pumpernickel and a little tobacco tang.
The medium body has a soft crispness with a really nice vibration that comes to a tingly semi-dry finish.

This is described as a “Kulmbacher Export” style of dark lager. Not really sure that a sub style fits it, but in an article that was referenced by the brewer that lays out a recipe, which includes a heavy dose Hallertau hops, it says to think of it as a “Münchener on steroids”.
I would probably agree with that. It looks a bit more like a Schwarz, but probably drinks more like a hoppy Dunkel with a bit more alcohol.
