Foggy to opaque dark brown to black with a creamy tan head that retains in the form of a blanket while leaving some fluid octopi arms of lace on the glass.
The maple on the nose has that banana skin vanilla note to it, as well as a touch of toffee and brittle.
In taste, it's pretty sugary sweet, like maple candies, while the coffee-like malt nobly attempts but fails to fully bring it into balance. It's still a tasty treat, but definitely not their forte. Or at least it's not yet dialed in. It's got an almost acrid char in the nearly smoky porter malt, and it exhales cacao skins, which is where it's most enjoyable.
The frothy medium round body finishes paper dry.

At the brewery in a snifter.
Dark brown color with a thin brownish head.
Smoky roasted malty aroma. Taste follows the nose with a slight bitterness and the sweet maple flavor.
A very nice beer, hope to have more some day...
