clean and easy wheat beer with what must be real blood orange, my first from these guys and its awesome for this time of year, fruity without being sweet, wheaty without being heavy, still well refined, and juicy and summery all the way, an optimistic pint and a beer i enjoyed a lot more than i thought i would. light haze and a backlit pinkish orange glow to this, not a ton of head from the tap but a lot of carbonation, big bubbles, and a lively texture that helps keep it moving. the fruit is lightly acidic in the nose, not sweet at all, with some balancing rind character and a real natural juiciness that makes this breezy and fun, love it being as dry as it is, light white wine character before the wheat comes in and grounds it, and the flavor is like the nose, fruit forward but unforced, a champagne note, tangerine and lemon, light tang but not sharp, a modest yeast presence thats fine in a beer like this, and balanced and smooth to drink on, a little floral, feminine and nice. rare that i feel like drinking this sort of thing pint after pint, but thats the go with this one, its beautifully proportioned, its specifically blood orange not just generic citrus, which is also rare, and its a real solid first impression for me of these guys, hope to hit the brewery when i am back in montana later this summer!
