Can to English pint glass.
The appearance was a rugged dark brown color with some dark amber hues along the side. Seemed to be closer to black towards the center. A two finger off tan foamy head seemed to hold its own on top and slid off delicately. Filmy messy lace ran all around the glass.
The aroma had a sweet smoke up front with some subtle meaty ham sweet tones with milk and dark chocolate whiffs coming in for a stealthy blend. Subtle dark fruitiness underneath.
The flavor seemed to lead with a smokey ashy/char dry maltiness. Burnt coffee grounds make a good play in this department. Definitely has the ashy/char time to it in the aftertaste.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied, perhaps a touch under. Good carbonation. Dry harshness lingers on my tongue. Finishes with some dry dark chocolate bitterness and earthy smoke.
Overall, the aroma was the best thing about this beer. I'd still have again but not a top tier one for it's style.

Can. Murky dark brown mud with lasting ring island and lace. Smoky earthy aroma with hints of chocolate. Dark chocolate cocoa sweetness with some Vermont tanginess fruity hops and medium>full burnt herbal bitterness. Medium body with vermont IPA texture graininess. Definitely a hazy juicy Vermont IPA-style smoked porter, but still excellent.
