Tartshake IPA brewed with plum pureé, cold-pressed organic ginger juice, organic ginger plum iced tea, lactose, and vanilla bean.
Originally conceived by our staff brewer Nick Foust, this is the first batch at the Warehouse and we dialed the essentials so that every ingredient plays its proper part. We start with a kettle full of lactose-laden sour wort, conduct a hot steep of organic ginger plum iced tea in the whirlpool, add cold-pressed ginger juice, ferment with kveik, re-ferment on heaps of plum pureé, then condition on vanilla beans. It's a wildly unique beer with bright, fruity highs, a mellow ginger zang, gentle tartness, and rich, sweet grounding. The color is a really special ruby-red that's perfect for holiday sipping.

Interesting looking “plum” colored brew with a pinkish hued thin head, looks decent for a sour, if that’s what this is. I think it’s ginger and slight funk on the nose of this thing, I’m now scared. I’d call it a tart ginger beer with some vanilla. Ok it takes a bit of getting use to, but it’s not bad...oddly. Feels thin and I don’t want to say watery cause it’s got some carbonation but...if you can get past the scent of this beer, it’s decent.

A: The beer is hazy purplish red in color. It poured with a quarter finger high light pink colored head.
S: Moderate aromas of ginger are present in the nose along with notes of ginger.
T: The taste follows the smell, except that there are additional hints of lactose and vanilla bean, the latter two of which are most noticeable towards the finish.
M: It feels nearly medium-bodied on the palate and is slightly tart with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This is more of a ginger beer than it is a plum beer (except for the purple color) but it is easy to drink.
