Munich-style dunkel lager brewed with rye
Oontz is brewed with 100% Weyermann malts; to us, these are the very best German malts available and this beer is a platform for them to shine. We layer in two shades of Munich base malt for a rich, bready base, add a touch of Melanoidin for a deep molasses undertone, darken the color with de-husked black malt, and incorporate a judicious helping of rye malt for its signature spice and full mouthfeel. The classic Hallertau Mittelfruh hops provide balance, but largely stay in the background. Fermentation is handled by our favorite ancient German lager strain and we condition cold until bright and mature. Truly a rich drinking experience for such a slammable lil' crispy.

Absolutely phenomenal amount of flavor for a 4.8% beer. Has as much going on as a 8 or 9% stout. Mouthfeel loses traction for me with a somewhat thing and again, acidic sharpness. Not quite as much as their squish beer but its expected in a new england hoppy beer. In a dark German lager its quite off-putting. Overall and apart from the minor detractor in the fee this is very good.
