In the historic district building in Springfield IL. A modern industrial feel with large marble slate bar top. Busy inside, younger hipsters. Stout and Porter were decent.

Bright and modern new brewery in downtown Springfield, with a distillery on the way pending licensing. Slick concrete bar with stools to the left, and plenty of table seating. Back past the bar was an open area with games and a stage for live music.
The bartender was super friendly and gave us a quick tour. He mentioned they would be putting in a new tap system to bring them up to 20 taps. The two story copper still in the back was really cool to see.
The beers were all good, a few nice sour ales, a couple IPA’s, an export stout, hefeweizen, blueberry wheat, and a cider for the gluten-free patrons. They had pre-filled crowlers to-go, and I got a Hazy Midwest Sunrise.
Overall, Anvil & Forge is a great new option downtown, walking distance from Floyd’s, Craft, Brewhaus, Tacology 101, and Buzz Bomb.
2020: Be sure to check out Terra Ferment which just opened nearby. Hand of Fate in Petersburg is worth a detour too.
