Tap pour at the brewery. Served chilled in a small snifter glass.
Unfiltered, cloudy straw colored body. Off white head, which results in a skim and ring. Leaves behind scattered spots of lacing.
Aroma is vague.
Taste is wheat malt and a little cloves that comes in late. Banana ester is missing.
Medium mouth feel. Mouth coating. Good carbonation.
More like a blonde ale.

And before "hazy" meant hops, "hazy" meant wheat. As the 4 By 4 brewers astutely know, the German Hefeweizen was cool even when haze wasn't cool.

The O. G. Hefe leaps right out with a fresh and fruity scent based around creamy tropical fruit, citrus and cereal at the onset of the pour. Pale straw and cast in a fine-mesh haze, the wheat beer builds a racy and somewhat zesty white froth. A sweet malty taste hits the tongue first with impressions of sugar cookie, fresh bread dough and soft cereal grains.

As the beer takes a crisp turn, the fruits abound. Leading with lemon and apple, a quick follow of banana, pawpaw and papaya complete the fruity display. Counter to the fruit lies a late palate of light clove, white pepper, mint and a mild hop spice of lemongrass and straw.

Medium light in body, this Hefeweizen trends slightly more American Wheat than most traditional German versions, finishing light and risking thinness. But in a crisper and more refreshing fashion, the beer has a short extension of dough, tea in a clean aftertaste.

Had on tap at the brewery. Hazy yellowish in color with a white head and some lacing. Smells of floral and malt. Taste follows the smell. Smooth and easy to drink.

Very refreshing beer, has the slight banana taste I enjoy in Hefeweizens. Easy drinker, gone through a couple growlers worth already.
