Got a half-growler of this at Westmere Beverage today, where their website says it's a "Galaxy/Simcoe IPA with Oats."
A: Poured into a Piraat tulip/snifter-type glass. Body is slightly hazy golden with a wisp of whitish head on top.
S: Definitely Simcoe in the house, with garlic/onion hop notes prevalent.
T: Follows the nose, with earthy, garlicky and oniony hops over a modest biscuity malt foundation. Finishes with a good piney, lemony bitterness.
M: Light to medium in heft. Despite the 6.3% ABV (which is noted as warmth in the belly but not really on the palate), this one drinks like a Session IPA in some ways.
O: OK. A nice curveball from my normal rotation of NE IPAs lately (had some Tree House just last night, and thinking about Julius when this is done), but I'm not a big fan of Simcoe.
