For my 1900th review, I chose a beer brewed in the County where I grew up. According to the label, the name for this beer is derived from a John Donne poem, and it has particular meaning as the pandemic approaches one year - a year of lockdowns and masks and social isolation. It's a reminder that No Man is an Island.
A: Poured from the can (canned on 2/19/21, consumed on 3/5/21) into a Tree House tulip. Body is hazy light-golden with a half-finger of whitish head.
S: Not a strong nose at all - sugar cookie dough malt foundation, then some faint tropical fruit - mainly pineapple; also some grassiness.
T: Kinda follows the nose, with modest sweetness up front - think crackery malt meets toasted grain bread - then some citrus (grapefruit peel, lemon, a hint of lime). Finishes with a good bitterness.
M: Not heavy and overly juicy so many NE IPAs. This one feels like the lighter side of medium in heft, and has some fine, modestly active carbonation.
O: Good. Nothing earth-shattering, but an easy drinker with plenty of flavor. This would be a good Summer NE IPA.
