Got this from the liquor store in Maarssen
From a bottle into a snifter

Russian imperial stout aged in Heaven Hill barrels for 160 days
APPEARANCE: Clear, transparent brown pour yields a two finger, medium looking, foamy, light beige head with good retention. Transparent, bistre brown body with medium carbonation. Head slowly recedes to a full, foamy wisp and clings to the sides of the glass. Half wisp remains leaving lots of lacing on the glass as it empites. Horribly light color for the style.
SMELL: Wood and oak aromas, butterscotch, notes of vanilla, dark fruit, as well as some spirits on the nose. Medium strength.
TASTE: Wood, some bourbon, hints of butterscotch and some dark fruit sweetness up front. Alcohol at the swallow. Bold finish of alcohol, wood, butterscotch, some vanilla and milk chocolate notes, dark fruit sweetness like raisins and grapes, as well as some woody flavors and sprits linger on the palate.
PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. Somewhat creamy though also a touch foamy, goes down fine with a bit of a burn and finishes a bit mouth-coating. Some heat lingers.
OVERALL: There are some good things going on here, but right out of the glass it’s got a bit strike against it. I don’t know what good can come of something called a “Russian Imperial Stout” that barely looks dark enough to be called a Belgian double. Jopen knows how to make decently stout-looking stout beer. There are also lots of examples of stout-looking stout beer in Holland. I’m not sure how Jopen has missed them. Nevertheless, the look is not the only thing that makes good beer. This one has some interesting components to it but the character is more of a barrel aged quad than a barrel aged stout. Decent but not worth seconds.
