Overstag - whisky barrel aged

Poured from fridge temp. Pours jet black with a nice tan head. This is aged in Scottish whisky barrels for 385 days, and the aroma screams whisky. I absolutely love it. Smoky, chocolate, toffee, wheat, brown sugar, tobacco, black licorice, and a bit of molasses. Some dark fruit - blackberry mostly - is also present. Really amazing nose. Taste follows the nose, for the most part. Definitely a lot of smoke and peat. A sharp bitterness and alcohol heat is there, with a bit of a sting in the throat. This would probably mellow out beautifully over a couple of years in the cellar. Definitely getting coffee grounds, chocolate (dark), and licorice. Lots of whisky, of course. This is really nice, with a thick mouthfeel. Overall, a fantastic offering from Jopen.
