Copenhagen 9/4 2023. 75 cl corked bottle from Kvickly, Østergade, Middelfart. Dark blue label with Jopen's red and white logo in the center.
Pours unclear murky outrange with big white head. Stable. Settles as thin flimsy layer of foam unable of covering the surface of the beer. Substantial lacing.
Aroma is medium intense with a sweet malty odor mingling with alcohol and some tart notes. Sweet apple juice and orange. Fermentation and alcohol. Turpentine. Hints of citrus.
Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, soft, almost flat texture.
Flavor is medium intense with a rather strong sweetness followed by a moderately strong sourish bitterness. Aftertaste is sweetish lingers for a bit. Finish is semidry and sugary.
Quite sweet - it is a Christmas Beer after all - and with a healthy ABV.

L- Wheaty golden-brown, pours with moderate haze and a 2mm head of microscopic bubbles, holds well.
S- There is something a bit coniferous here, like when you smell an antique made out of cedar wood.
T- The woody note follows through here and is spicy too. As it warms a touch the level of spice grows.
F- It's somewhat hoppy-dry, and the spices added together add something of a bitter/aromatic facet.
O- The brewer refer to it as a double-Wit (wheat) and I can see why, it's like a Wit/Weisse that is turbo-charged on that aspect. If you happen to be into uber-trad Weisse it might all be a bit OTT, unbalanced vs the 'historic norms'. Flip-side if you want a bit more going on on your palate within a broad trad theme then this might well work for you. I'm very happily enjoying this though it might be a bit full-on for me to go to the Specialist-import price of buying again.
Bought from TremblingMadness/York as part of a mixed case for home delivery. 330ml bottle £2.75 BB: Sep-22
ps. Only now reading the lable I see it contains Barley, wheat + oats, coriander and orange peel. Must be well balanced for all of that plus the 7.5% to blend so subtley.
