330ml can poured into pint shaker.

A: Golden, slightly hazy, large foamy head which disappeared fairly quickly left a bit of lacing, lots of bubbles.

S: Tropical fruits.

T: Passion fruit, grapefruit, slight wheat.

M: Low carbonation despite the lively looking bubbles, medium body.

O: This was towards the top end of budget IPAs, nothing offensive about it, wasn't bursting with fruits but had a nice enough flavour without being offensive.

Pours a cloudy, deep amber coloration with a medium, frothy head. Smells of doughy, slightly caramelly malt and citrus hops, with a certain grapefruit character. Taste is a good balance of doughy, grainy, slightly caramelly malt and floral, slightly fruity and resinous hops, with citrus notes of grapefruit and tangerine, as well as some pine. Finishes with a medium bitterness and some grainy malt, floral hops and hints of grapefruit and pine lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and medium carbonation.

While I think that this is okay for the price, it does suffer from the typical deficiencies of these discounter IPAs, basically being too sweet, grainy and floral, with the hops feeling muddled and the fruity notes not being very expressive here, although there at least is a pretty decent bitterness in the finish. I guess that hop extracts will only take you so far, but upon second review, I actually liked this a little better, maybe because it was fresher. It does have some West Coast qualities to it, actually, with a good bitterness and hints of citrus and pine. This has really grown on me and pretty much become my go-to IPA. While it may not be great, it's certainly great value-for-money and tasty enough with that certain West Coast character.

For an ipa this looks pretty yellow. Big head that stays around for awhile. Smells fruity and hoppy but on the weak side. Taste is underwhelming. Feels light-to-medium bodied. Maybe it’s my American bias but I definitely prefer IPAs from this side of the Atlantic. Not a bad beer for the price. Caught this on sale in South Korea for about $1 per 500ml can. Definitely better than your standard lager and even many pilsners, but compared to most IPAs this, um, pales in comparison. Will have this again if in the mood for something light and short on cash.
