Pours a pitch-black coloration with a medium, creamy head. Smells of roasted, caramel malt and hints of chocolate, coffee and herbal hops. Taste is a good balance of roasted, caramel malt and light bitter and herbal hops, with some chocolate and coffee notes and just a hint of licorice and citrus accents. Finishes with a medium bitterness and some roasted malt and chocolate and coffee accents lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
This is kind of impressive considering that all of the discounter Stouts I've had so far were utterly terrible, while this is actually quite all right. Seriously, for a 0.65€ discounter stout, this is excellent and even by itself, it's still pretty decent. It's got a good balance of roasted malt and bitter hops going on, lending a rather roasted, dry and bitter flavor profile to this that has none of that overly sweet and syruppy cola presence I get from other discounter stouts, while it actually manages some pretty nice chocolate and coffee notes and even the body and mouthfeel isn't too bad here. The first discounter Stout that I have ever considered somewhat enjoyable for sure. It's rather hoppy, almost crossing over into Black IPA territory with some bitter, herbal and lighter citrus notes, but that doesn't bother me personally.
