Pours a cloudy, dark amber coloration with a small, fluffy, lasting head. Smells of doughy, caramel malt and citrus hops, with notes of grapefruit, as well as just a hint of pine coming through as well. Taste is a good balance of doughy, caramel malt and bitter, slightly fruity and resinous hops, with citrus notes of grapefruit and just a hint of pine coming through as well. Finishes with a strong bitterness and some grapefruit and pine lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and strong carbonation.
Quite a bitter IPA with some zesty citrus notes and hints of resinous pine. While the hops don't feel quite that vibrant and well-defined here, with the strong bitterness being perhaps just a tad overpowering, I still think this makes for quite a decent discounter IPA with a certain West Coast vibe to it. I guess that hop extracts will only take you so far, but for 50 cents, you really can't complain and I think that, for the price, this makes gor a cheap and solid go-to IPA if you don't mind the strong bitterness, which I actually quite enjoy. The only thing that kind of bothers me about this is the strong carbonation, making me feel kinda bloated.
